alone

It has happened to me. It has happened to you... We have been sent to the corner of the room... We have run off to the bedroom... We have jumped in the car and pealed out of the driveway... We have put on the "earbuds"... We have shut the door to our office... We have taken the long walk... All of that and more to do and be just one thing... ALONE! "ALONE" carries so many different connotations. It feels great to be alone! It feels terrible to be alone! I'm alone in my thoughts and opinions... I stand alone on my principles... I can't stand to be alone... You are not alone! How about this twist on the word "ALONE"? SeeingGodatWorkEveryDay... The faith tradition I grew up in and currently practice is called the Reformed Tradition. Piloted by Martin Luther in 1517 and theologically systematized by John Calvin and further reformed by John Knox into the Scottish Presbyterianism found in the United States today (of whom I am a direct descendant!), listen how the word "ALONE" played an important role in the development of the Protestant faith. "According to Scripture alone, we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone to the glory of God alone." In the Latin version there are "FIVE ALONES" Sola (alone) Scriptura - Scripture Alone Sola Gratia - Grace Alone Sola Fide - Faith Alone Sola Christus - Christ Alone Soli Deo Gloria - To God Alone be the glory Perhaps this gives us pause to think the next time we hear the word "ALONE", we might take a moment to remember how the "Five Alones" helped change, shape and transform the world into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! If you will excuse me... It's time to take a break and be "alone" with these words and thoughts... "According to Scripture alone, we are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone to the glory of God alone."SeeingGodatWorkEveryday... Laugh often and Fear not! David!
