Thursday's Thoughts from Pastor David Today is the National Day of Prayer! Always the first Thursday of the month of May in the USA… What will your prayer be today? For peace? For security? To get through the day without an argument? For serenity? For God to take away the excruciating pain of grief and loss? For our world leaders, praying common sense, rationality and less ego would win the day? To understand the pain? Healthcare for all? For someone to “pay” for what they have done to you? For God to bring about reconciliation with someone you love who is now estranged? For assurance? The other day was a tough day, all of the following happened on the same day which meant it was a day bathed in prayer… A friend’s boyfriend died… (He was only 40 years old) A friend lost his job… A friend’s significant other said, “Time for you to move out…” (After two and half years) I officiated a funeral for one of our members who was part of America’s Greatest Generation Lots and lots of prayer, Conversation with God, Uniting our hearts with God’s… I love this passage from Isaiah… “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet,     they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson,     they shall become like wool. (Isaiah 1: 18) Would you be willing to offer a prayer of thanksgiving today? A prayer thanking God that though our lives become crimson stained with cynicism, doubt, anger, hate, jadedness, sin, lust, hurt, pride, envy, and more, God with one word, one stroke of the pen, one wave of His gentle hand, one nod of His grace filled head, one wink of His loving eyes, one beat of his merciful heart, we are restored, we are reconciled, we are renewed, we are forgiven and in a moment we become pure, we become righteous, we become whole, we become white as snow, as the crimson tide of sin rolls away into the sea of forgetfulness… Thank you Lord Jesus!
